Board Minutes
Elk Meadow School Library
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 by Mike Lovely.
Mike Lovely, Rod Cathcart, Carl Metler, Ronda Metler and Dianne Crampton were present.
Joe Barry and Linda Spring were absent
The May meeting minutes were read and approved.
The reading of the Treasurer’s report was tabled. Mike reported that we received a bill from Sagebrush Printing for $214 and a check from Newland Communities for $125.00
Summer meeting arrangements were discussed. Dianne will contact Yvonne at the Bend La Pine School District for meeting arrangements for the months of October 2004 – June 2005. Carl will contact the New Hope Church for a possible summer meeting site.
The July 6 meeting will be held at the home of Dianne Crampton at 19464 Summerwalk Place.
Mike gave a Chairs and Officer’s Meeting update. He claimed that he and Carl were unable to get onto the Website. Jim Inkster will meet with us at 550 SW Industrial Way Suite 25 on Thursday June 3 to work on website problems.
Mike reported that the Neighborhood Signs are not the correct color and we do want our website address on the signs. The question is do we want our own website? If the City is too overbearing, it is possible we should have our own website built.
Mike also reported that Community Dispute Resolution spoke about neighborhood mediation.
Ronda Metler reported that she did not call Cheryl Howard about the weed pull slated for June 12 or the Party at Drake Park. Ronda sent e-mail to Cheryl and never received a reply. Dianne Crampton moved to let the issue about the weed pull drop for this year. Rod seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.
There was a discussion about the City Survey and comments about the neighborhood associations. Mike volunteered to get a copy of the completed Survey.
There was a discussion about incorporating the Southwest Bend Neighborhood Association. Ronda reported that she had looked for materials on the internet and it appears that incorporation is quite involved. Mike volunteered to pursue the matter since hiring an attorney would cost approximately $250.00. Mike said he would contact officers in other neighborhood associations and do some research on his own. He will bring an update to the next meeting.
Rod Cathcart brought up the subject of the overpass and road mitigation in Southwest Bend. Mike indicated he had been contacting New Hope Church and the Pinebrook Homeowner’s Association about their participating in the matter. Mike showed the Board the Brooks Scanlon easement as proposed. Rod reported that right now ODOT is waiting on the City for direction on which stage of the project to do first.
The Board discussed the following neighborhood development strategies:
- Create a large Block Party next year.
- Create a donor letter during the summer.
- Create a neighborhood picnic possibly from 5:00 – 7:00 on a weekday evening.
Respectfully submitted by Dianne Crampton, Board Secretary
