OFDNA Accomplishments

  • Worked closely with Bend Planning Department resulting in required notification to neighborhood associations of developments within their boundaries
  • Developed, conducted and published survey on Reed Market Road and Murphy Road prior to official study. Presented results to companies leading the studies and City representatives. Received a “well done” for the survey input.
  • Led N.A. push, in conjunction with the Planning Department, to develop 2 forms verifying the public and N.A. meeting with developers
  • An OFDNA representative has attended numerous neighborhood meetings with developers
  • Advised homeowners of their rights in dealing with developers
  • An OFDNA representative and/or board members have attended monthly combined Neighborhood Association Officers and Chairs meetings
  • Although just outside OFDNA boundary, tire recycling project at county landfill was a concern. Representative monitored progress and stoppage of that project.
  • Communicated with Bend Metro Parks and Recreation urging acquisition of park land in OFDNA region
  • Communicated with Bend-LaPine school board urging recognition of major additions to school population in Southeast Bend
  • Implemented a Good Samaritan program for disabled and elderly to remove snow and to errand drive during adverse weather conditions
  • An OFDNA representative attended Deschutes County’s Water Study Forum for Deschutes basin
  • Participated in weed pull programs organized by Orchard NA, attacking noxious weeds in the area
  • Applied for and received permission to adopt Ferguson Road in Adopt-A-Road program
  • Organized semi-annual meetings attended by city officials to inform citizens of progress on Reed Market Road and Murphy Road projects, identity theft, identifying drug houses, Parks and Recreation programs, and fire protection around home
  • Updated web page and membership list
  • Led the request and approval for all neighborhood associations to receive additional funds from the Bend budget to pay for mailing and communication with a growing membership list
  • Solicited   businesses within the boundaries to join the Neighborhood Association
  • Continued on-going communications with nearby NA’s about items of mutual interest (development, traffic, etc.)
  • Joined Chamber of Commerce to stay informed of business developments
  • Instrumental in establishing Board of Boards to unify NA’s on common causes
  • An OFDNA representative participated in Hwy 97/20 planning
  • OFDNA representatives attended 2030 Vision public meeting
  • OFDNA representative attended lecture by Oregon Water Resources Department
  • Sent letters to Deschutes County commissioners regarding landfill violations
  • Publish a brochure that explains OFDNA’s work in the community
  • Communicate with other NA’s and City staff regarding plans for South 3rd commercial district
  • Representative is attended monthly Residential Lands Study committee meetings, studying possible additions to Urban Growth Boundary
  • Continuing to monitor land use. Over 1400 residential units have been built or are being planned within OFDNA boundaries over the last three years

What OFDNA does not do:

  • OFDNA does not become engaged in neighbor-neighbor disagreements. OFDNA will advise possible measures to be taken by neighbors in some instances, however.
