City Plans Sewer, Road and Water Work in the Old Farm District Area
Last updated July 16, 2009
The city currently has plans for upgrading infrastructure in the southeast area of the city including projects that will benefit homeowners in the Association's area but may also cause periods of inconvenience during that process.
The following is a brief summary of the work that is planned along with websites that you may use to view detail that the city has published.
Murphy Corridor Refinement: This work includes three phases, however only the work listed below as part of Phase 1 has been funded, primarily by Federal stimulus funds and ODOT matching funds, the remainder of the work will be several years in the future:
- Tentatively scheduled for the spring of 2010: A new roundabout at Brookswood that would then be connect by new roadway to an overpass over highway 97, just West of Murphy road, connecting to a new intersection and traffic signal on 3rd Street that would then connect to a new roundabout at Murphy and Parrell. The existing segment of Murphy from 3rd Street would probably be terminated with a cul-de-sac just prior to the existing Murphy/Parrell intersection although this has not been finalized at this time.
- Planned but not funded at this time: Upgrades of Murphy from Parrell to Brosterhous.
- Planned but not funded at this time: New Roadway connecting Brosterhous to 15th Street.
The city has a website at http://www.murphycorridor.com/, which provides a great deal of detail on the project from Highway 97 east (see especially the booklet at: http://projects.ch2m.com/murphy_road/files/volume/VolumeI-RefinementPlan-06.23.08.pdf), but as of July 16, 2009 does not have information on the phase 1 project from Brookswood to the termination of the overpass on Highway 97. This portion of the project was not in the original scope of the project but was added as a result of Federal stimulus funds.
Southeast Bend Wastewater Infrastructure Project (Southeast Interceptor): According to the city: "As described in the City's Collection System Master Plan, the Southeast Interceptor will “intercept” wastewater flow that is currently routed through the City's downtown core system, and route it around the south and east side of the City to a connection with the existing Plant Interceptor pipeline in Northeast Bend."
During this project portions of the following roadways will be impacted as the city opens them to install and/or replace lines:
- Tentatively scheduled for the spring of 2010: Murphy Road
- Planned but not funded at this time: Reed Market and SE 27th Street
More detail can be found at the City's site for this project: http://www.bendwastewater.com/.
Water
Improvements:
The city does not have a website
discussing this project but it will basically upgrade the water
system from the pump station on Murphy road (across from the
R E Jewell Elementary School), west on Murphy Road to
Country Club and then east on Country Club to the fire
station. The Murphy Road portion of this work is schedule
for the spring of 2010.
More information on this work will be published on this site at a later date.
